The Labour Day long weekend was kickstarted on Friday night as Sons of the East made their way to the Bronson Centre on the second stop on their North American tour. The Sydney, Australia folk band provided a foot-stomping energized set that had the crowd bouncing in the theatre. After selling out their first show of the tour in Montreal and then gaining a sizeable crowd on Friday night, it’s obvious the band has been making inroads in Canada.
Entering their twelfth year as a band, the Aussie group continue to release new music, with their latest single ‘Hard to Tell,’ featuring the group’s impressive melding of harmonies over a catchy chorus. If you missed Sons of the East this time around, the band made sure to tell the crowd they need to be back soon.
Opening the night was Lullanas, a twin duo from Philadelphia. The group signified the perfect start to fall, mixing haunting harmonies with subtle strums of the acoustic guitar, invoking the feeling of moody autumn days.
