When I saw the lineup outside of an unsuspecting building 15 minutes before show time, I knew I was at the right place.

The Bronson Centre Music Theatre welcomed fans of Skydiggers Friday night as part of Capital Music Week. The venue was packed with an older crowd, all ready to watch the Toronto rock band play.

Opening for Skydiggers was Mia Kelly and Satellite Birdhouse, both Ottawa locals who received awards the night prior at the Capital Music Awards.

Each performer brought a unique energy. Throughout the three performances, fans enjoyed a mix of folk, indie, and rock music — at times swaying side to side, and at others jumping up and down.

Mia Kelly got the crowd singing along to “Remedy River,” creating a velvety and smooth chant. Soon after, Satellite Birdhouse had an infectious playfulness with the crowd, which was only furthered by Skydiggers’ upbeat and humorous style later on in the night.

The final night of Capital Music Week is tonight, with more artist showcases. For more information on Capital Music Week, visit the OMIC website.
