Last night, the Canadian Tire Centre was brought to life with a stacked lineup of Evanescence, Halestorm, and The Warning.
The Warning kicked off the night with a high-energy set that set the tone for the evening. The Mexican rock trio from Monterrey, consisting of sisters Daniela, Paulina, and Alejandra, showcased their impressive musicianship and harmonies by leading songs throughout the set.
Next up was Halestorm, led by the dynamic Lzzy Hale. The band exploded onto the stage with “I Miss the Misery” instantly igniting the crowd. Lzzy’s powerful vocals attacked each song backed by chunky guitar riffs. Halestorm’s ballads lit up, especially during “Break In” as Amy Lee joined Lzzy Hale by the piano, showcasing a duet of two of current rock’s best vocalists. It was the band’s first time in Ottawa and hopefully not the last!
Finally, Evanescence took the stage, and the atmosphere shifted into something ethereal and haunting. Amy Lee’s voice sounded exactly as it does in the studio, with a perfect blend of strength and vulnerability. The band seamlessly moved through their catalogue, ending with classics like “My Immortal” and “Bring Me to Life.”
While it may have been 21 years since Fallen was released, Evanescence showed that their sound and influence live on and are still relevant today.
