City and Colour’s performance last night at the Canadian Tire Centre was summarized in three words by Dallas Green, “Let’s get emotional,” as the band walked on stage. A soulful experience full of emotional connection was exactly what fans were treated to. While there were thousands in the arena, the show provided an intimate atmosphere that perfectly complemented Dallas Green’s voice. Throughout the set, Green effortlessly transitioned between acoustic ballads and more upbeat numbers, showcasing over twenty years of hits. As the night drew to a close with an encore performance of “Sleeping Sickness,” there was a sense of collective euphoria lingering in the air.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats brought an electrifying energy to the stage. The midwest band, who headlines many large tours themselves, felt like more than just an opener. From the moment they burst into their set with “I Need Never Get Old,” the crowd was up, dancing and singing along. Rateliff’s gravelly voice paired perfectly with the band’s brass section, creating a dynamic and irresistible sound. Throughout the performance, the Night Sweats seamlessly blended elements of rock, soul, and blues, keeping the crowd engaged and energized.

It was a night of soul as Ruby Waters delivered a dynamic performance, commanding the audience’s attention from the first note. Waters’ dynamic band were bouncing around the stage and got the crowd going for those who showed up early.
