Last night, the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC) announced its winners for the sixth annual Capital Music Awards.
Established in 2020, the Capital Music Awards are widely recognized as the largest music gathering in the National Capital Region.
Hosted by YAO, the National Music Centre saw a number of performances from some of Ottawa’s top talent, including Alanna Sterling, Cody Coyote, Complicit, Jana Salameh, Kassidy, Kathryn Patricia Cobbler, Raphael Weinroth-Browne, Siaka Diabaté, and TECHTWELVE. The awards included five categories voted on by the public.
Mia Kelly—who performs later tonight with Skydiggers—was awarded Single of the Year and Video of the Year for her song “Bonefish Boys” and video Si j’étais franche.
Twin Flames also received two awards: Group of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.
Album of the Year was awarded to Double Experience for their Undefeated album.
Both Debaser and Club SAW walked away with a Live Music Curator award and a Live Music Venue award, respectively.
Finally, OrKidstra recived the Music Educator of the Year award; Alanna Sterling received the Solo Artist of the Year award; Kieran Isley received the Sound Engineer of the Year award; and De Flore received the Best Production and Arrangements award.
