The opening night of Ottawa Bluesfest might have been full of rain showers but that did not dampen the energy with a lineup overflowing with Canadian talent. Vancouver’s Mother Mother headlined the main stage, showcasing their unique blend of indie rock, catchy melodies, and introspective lyrics.
Lebreton Flats was buzzing with excitement as fans showed up for Ottawa’s biggest music festival. Soaking in the diverse array of talents on display, acts provided something for everyone- from Ottawa’s Country Club Pool Boy, the masked cowboy Orville Peck to Canada Drag Race winner Priyanka. It was a final Ottawa show for one band, as Tokyo Police Club said goodbye on their farewell tour after close to 20 years as a band.
As per usual, the first night of Bluesfest offered something for everyone. With each act leaving their mark, the festival promises to be a highlight of the summer for music lovers in the nation’s capital.
RBC Ottawa Bluesfest runs from July 4-14 at Lebreton Flats, with passes and tickets available here.
