What does a mermaid show, an aquarium in financial ruin, a union strike and a murder plot all have in common? You guessed it — those are all part of The City Aquarium is Proud to Present: The Marvelous Mermaids of Merriment.
The audience are the board members of a highly anticipated business meeting in which employees at The City Aquarium decide if they would like to keep the new CEO’s decision to implement mermaid performances at the aquarium, or if they should stick to what they’ve always done — provide accurate and educational opportunities to people about life under the sea.
In this PR nightmare, humour, excitement and a whole lot of fish puns can be expected while the aquarium tries to avoid a fatal drowning, or could see them stay afloat (get it?).

The show features only three performers who switch between multiple characters flawlessly, and their energy carries throughout the entire performance. From a keen, people-pleasing assistant, to mermaid performers, to a machismo detective, to aquarium employees, this show seriously runs the gambit. Not to mention a choreographed mermaid dance to boot!
Funny, mysterious, playful and heartwarming, you definitely don’t want to miss The City Aquarium is Proud to Present: The Marvelous Mermaids of Merriment this Fringe season!
