Don’t expect a quiet night of classical music from Grammy-nominated pianist Gabriela Montero at Southam Hall on Jan. 10.
The artistry of Venezuelan-born Montero might defy description, but it is always magically rewarding. Her masterful execution of classical piano repertoire and her uncanny ability to improvise make her truly a one-of-a-kind musician. In this recital, Montero returns to Ottawa to do both; improvising a soundtrack to Charlie Chaplin’s silent film The Immigrant, and performing works by some of the 20th century’s greatest composers.
