BEING Studio’s SPEAK podcast gives voice to artists with disabilities

BEING Studio is a non-profit arts organization that supports artists with developmental disabilities who are interested in visual art and creative writing in Ottawa. Founded in 2002, the organization provides studio space, merchandising opportunities, and professional workshops for artists to learn new skills. The second season of SPEAK, a podcast produced by BEING studio, is a delightful romp through time.

Don’t miss Portraits of The Ottawa Mission at the OAG until October 16

From Sept. 30 to Oct. 16, The Ottawa Mission joins renowned artist Karen Bailey and Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) to present “Portraits of The Ottawa Mission,” an exhibition that highlights the stories of the clients, employees, volunteers, service partners and donors of Ottawa’s oldest and largest homeless shelter in a new exhibition in the Sky Lounge of the OAG.

Revolutionary Queer Art: General Idea HIV Exhibit at National Gallery of Canada until November 20, 2022

Throughout the pandemic years, Queer art has become a lifeline for the Queer community. In my opinion, one of the best examples of Canadian Queer art is the General Idea AIDS exhibit currently on display at the National Gallery of Canada. It takes the dark and deadly history of the HIV epidemic and turns it colourful. It’s a breath of life that tells the story of the victims of the HIV plague.
