It’s one of our favourite times of the year, Broadway Across Canada announced their new season at the National Arts Centre. We are thrilled at the lineup and think you should be, too. There are two shows left in the current season for which you can still purchase tickets for SIX starting May 21 and Les Misérables in August.

Disney’s The Lion King (October 24—November 10, 2024)

Disney’s The Lion King is one of the most successful shows on Broadway and there’s a good reason for that—it’s one of the most innovative, creative and beautiful staging’s of a show that will transport you to the Serengeti and immerse you into the story. While staying true to the well-loved animated movie, this show is spectacular for kids and adults to see live on stage. Last seen in Ottawa in 2011, this show was overdue to wow the crowds here once again.

MJ the Musical (December 31, 2024—January 5, 2025)

This snapshot musical of the King of Pop takes us into the making of his 1992 Dangerous World Tour. MJ The Musical, winner of four Tony Awards, promises all the big hits you know and love, including Beat It, Thriller, and Smooth Criminal. Get a behind-the-scenes look into what makes an artist a legend.

Tina: The Tina Turner Musical (February 11—16, 2025)

From the King of Pop to the Queen of Rock! Everyone knows Tina Turner’s music, but do you know her story? Tina: The Tina Turner Musical tells her inspiring tale while weaving in the great songs that have become iconic classics on our playlists. With hits like Proud Mary, What’s Love Got to Do With It, (Simply) The Best and more are bound to get you on your feet and dancing.

Beetlejuice (May 27—June 1, 2025)

There’s a reason they’re making a sequel to this much-loved movie. But you’d be a fool to miss the musical based on the first. Beetlejuice brings the same wit, comedy and quirkiness, as a teenager befriends a recently deceased couple and finds herself intertwined with an unpredictable demon. Expect a stellar stage show, fantastic costuming, some afterlife magic and buckle up for the ghost with the most!

Hamilton (August 5—August 17, 2025)

If you’ve been living under a rock for the last eight years, then you’ve missed out on the most revolutionary musical in decades. While it did eventually make its way to Ottawa after multiple pandemic-related postponements, many folks didn’t get the chance to see it as it sold out. Even if you did, this is a show with so much rich detail and layers that it’s worth seeing again. Hamilton brings its slick mix of rap and R&B stylings to the story of some of America’s founding fathers.

We can’t wait for this new and exciting season! Want to dive in and prepare for the upcoming season? Find some of our favourite tunes on our Broadway Across Canada 2024/2025 Season playlist!
