Broadway Across Canada is bringing a little bit of the underworld to the National Arts Centre with its presentation of Hadestown. Playing on a twist of the Greek legends of Hades, Persephone, Hermes, Eurydice and Orpheus, the musical is set in a 1920s New Orleans factory town and showcases jazz and American folk influences.

It’s a musical! And not just any musical, but the one we have been eagerly waiting for. Originally announced as part of the 2020/2021 season, Something Rotten is finally here. Presented by Orpheus Musical Theatre, the show will play at Meridian Centrepointe Theatre until June 11.

The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived! After an interrupted, delayed, and ultimately knock-it-out-of-the-park current Broadway Across Canada (BAC) season at the National Arts Centre, we are finally ready for a new year and a new, hopefully-uninterrupted-by-a-global-pandemic, season of official touring Broadway shows to get pumped about!

When audiences gather on May 12 to watch the Confidential Musical Theatre Project, they won’t know what show they’re about to see. The actors will never have rehearsed together or know who else has been cast. It sounds like a plan for disaster… or not? I guess we’ll all find out together!

It’s our favourite time of year—Show Tune Showdown is just around the corner! On stage at Meridian Theatres at Centrepointe on April 22, Show Tune Showdown is a time for musical theatre lovers (and those just looking to have a fun night) to gather, laugh, sing and enjoy a fabulous show. We chatted with Show Tune Showdown producer Rob Bowman and one of the organizers, Heather Daley, to see what’s in store for the 2023 show.

Get in losers, we’re going to see the musical Mean Girls. The 12-time Tony-nominated show is on until October 23 at the National Arts Centre. 

The Broadway musical Mean Girls is coming to the National Arts Centre from October 18 to 23. Based on the iconic movie of the same name and penned by the incomparable Tina Fey, this is no regular musical, it’s a cool musical.

Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier is a parody musical from the point of view of Ja’far, whom you might remember as the bad guy from the Disney version. It takes the classic story and spins it on its head, giving audiences an alternate reading on what could have actually happened.
