Alright, dear readers, it’s finally time. You’ve been incredibly patient with us over the past few months, and we’re not going to let you down.
The chance to get your t-shirt from the Great Apartment613 T-shirt Contest is finally, finally here.
First off, a big thanks to everyone who submitted a design – it’s clear we have some incredibly creative folk in this town. And thanks to everyone who voted – it was a nail-biter of a contest! Third place was up for grabs right up until the poll closed. And the overall winner came in first by a landslide, getting votes from 44% of you. And with almost 1000 votes being cast, that’s nothing to sneeze at. It was no surprise, though, that in a town filled with government employees, those of you who don’t work for The Man would be eager to make sure everyone knows it.
Yes, Steve St. Pierre’s “I am not a government employee” took the winning spot. Second place was snagged by Olga Novoa for her Maman’s Snack design, and Nicole McGrath took third for her Memories of a Forest at Beaver Pond. And because it also got a whole lot of votes, we decided to exercise our superpowers and grant an ‘Editor’s Pick’ to Emma Godmere’s Golden Triangle design.
Now on to the fun part – getting your very own t-shirt to wear!
Before getting into this, one quick note for you ‘Beaver Pond’ fans: we’re hoping to use the sales from that t-shirt as a fundraiser for another local Ottawa group. But we’ve run into a few snags, and were unable to print the t-shirts just yet. But we promise they will be coming soon – look for details back here over the next few weeks. The profits from the rest of the t-shirts will be going back to Apartment613 for our Bandwidth Fund, to keep our small volunteer-run not-for-profit afloat on the waves of the Interweb.
We’ve created a snazzy online store that, thanks to the Ottawa-based Shopify folk, makes getting your t-shirt easy as pie. Simply head over to check out the collection, choose your shirt(s), pay for it all and select your shipping option, and you’re good as gold. We’ve got a few options for getting your shirt – you can have it sent to you, or you can pick it up at Raw Sugar on select afternoons. More details can be found in our store.
Thanks to the folks at Grafix Screen Print for producing the shirts, and to Shopify for helping us with our online store.
