If you’re a parent, you may already know that many schools in Kanata and Central Ottawa are overcrowded. In a city like Ottawa, that may sound surprising. After listening to concerned parents across the city, Ottawa’s public board is ready to share its recommendations for a short-term solution.
A new report by the city of Ottawa shows that 23 empty lots in the downtown core could be used for office buildings. Analysis of data collected in 2009 reveals much more unused space in the area than was originally thought, which could have implications for the job market and economic development in the city’s downtown.

In food news, Ottawa Magazine reports that Fraser Café will be expanding to the next door convenience store. What’s now known as Maximum Convenience will be completely renovated and will become Table 40 – a separate room that will be able to accommodate 20-45 people.
