The Volleyball Nations League 2024 Men’s Preliminaries have landed in our city, and the energy is through the roof as the first day wrapped up. From June 4-9, The Arena at TD Place is where you will want to be, with eight top teams battling it out on the court, including Team Canada representing at home.
Day one started with some jaw-dropping action. The USA took on Argentina in a showdown with everyone on the edge of their seats. The American team came out swinging, dominating the game with a clean sweep in three straight sets, 23-25, 21-25, and 24-26. A powerhouse performance that left fans cheering for more, as they awaited the moment they were waiting for.

The highlight of the day was Canada vs. Cuba. The atmosphere was electric as the crowd filled the stadium and watched the Canadian team dig deep and play with heart and determination. They clinched a thrilling 3-1 victory with scores of 25-21, 25-27, 25-20, and 28-26. Every point was a rollercoaster of emotions, and the crowd’s support was off the charts, chanting, dancing, dressed in costumes and wrapped in flags. It’s safe to say, Ottawa knows how to rally behind its team!

Then, get ready for a blockbuster match against the United States on Saturday, June 8, which will undoubtedly be the match everyone will want to see. The week will wrap up with a showdown against Serbia on Sunday, June 9 to close up the tournament. These games are not just about winning; they’re crucial for the team’s preparation for the Summer Olympics in Paris, which Canada has already qualified for.
