The Academy Awards nominees were announced. The Oscar Awards ceremony will be on March 2. Some contenders are playing at the ByTowne and the Mayfair in the first half of February.
Zombies, a great selection of romance flicks, and some of the major works of the great Norman Jewison are playing alongside many more great films this February.
Hooray! We can go back to see movies as they’re intended to be seen — in a real cinema. Poppa Ford has even allowed us to buy popcorn while we’re there. So, guys, it’s time to go to the movies! Here’s my list of recommended films at Ottawa’s two independent cinemas, the ByTowne and the Mayfair, until Valentine’s Day.
Chamberfest and the National Arts Centre Orchestra are each presenting special concerts this week. Between the two is a great deal of film music by composers such as Philip Glass, John Williams, plus video game soundtracks by acclaimed composers Maxine Goulet and Gordy Habb.
