Local actor and playwright Pierre Brault is somewhat of an Ottawa legend. He’s been writing and performing one-man shows and acting in other plays for over 30 years, most of it right here in the capital, so we wanted to find out more about the man and his work.
When Gavin Stephens was in Grade 12, he watched comedians Sinbad and George Wallace take the stage at Toronto’s Massey Hall. Years later, he would perform on that stage himself. This week, he is in Ottawa headlining at Absolute Comedy nightly until Sunday and at Moose McGuire’s Monday night.

Beneath all the snow and government buildings, Canada’s capital has been slowly nurturing a vibrant comedy community where amateur comedians have many opportunities to try their hand at the craft.
Ben Hagel is one of Ottawa’s youngest up-and-coming comics. He will perform at Yuk Yuk’s on Wednesday February 8 during the Crackup Comedy Festival.
