“Tithes” by Michael C. Duguay // The Canadian songwriter’s new album features a lot of Ottawa-area session musicians. He’s on an Ottawa label. Although he’s not from around here, Duguay has been mentioned on Apt613 several times. The Winter of our Discotheque is everything but a local release. But we’ll give it the #ottmusic weekly shoutout! This year, Duguay returned to the Canadian music landscape with a collection of new songs, drawing on the life-shattering experience that curbed his promising career after 2012’s Heavy on the Glory.
“This Could Be The One” by Terrence & the High Flyers // The retro sounding vintage rocker is in fact one of Ottawa’s newest hit makers. Terrence & the High Flyers put out their first single in 2020 although never had the opportunity to grow an audience through gigging, as emerging acts would. Despite this, the project’s full-length debut, Butterfly Window, was released one month ago today and has racked up more than 50,000 Spotify plays in that time.
