Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats delivered a wildly entertaining performance at the Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday night, as part of their South of Here Tour. The show featured a mix of their soulful rock and blues-infused tracks, captivating the crowd with their dynamic stage presence.

The band’s authenticity was on full display, as their performance restored some faith in large live bands in a landscape of overproduction and backing tracks. Blending soulful melodies with that old rock-n-roll energy created an immersive and huge sound, that had attendees dancing on the floor and in their seats.

Songs such as “I’m On Your Side” and “S.O.B” brought on call and responses from the fans, along with a rousing cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” at one point in the show.

Opening the night were Australia’s duo of Josh and Sam that make up The Teskey Brothers. Josh Teskey’s raspy yet powerful voice echoed throughout the arena, as Sam Teskey’s guitar licks would mimic and layer with his brother’s vocals. The band debuted a new song that they were recording while on tour in Canada, stating that it was the first time it had been played live.

After several hits in the past few years, such as “Rain” and “Forever You and Me,” the band has reached a new level of success across the globe, with this night marking their first time in the nation’s capital.
