Moneen’s 20th-anniversary performance of Are We Really Happy With Who We Are Right Now? at the Bronson Centre Music Theatre was a journey through two decades of emotional resonance. Vocalist Kenny Bridges’ delivery coupled with the band’s relentless instrumentals made for big choruses followed by pockets of mosh-worthy intensity. Moneen’s blend of emo and post-hardcore was poignant, reaffirming the album’s sound and influence.
It wasn’t the only anniversary on the night, as Sparta’s 20th-anniversary performance of Wiretap Scars was a showcase of the Texas’ band longevity. Cam Kahin opened the night, with an explosive set that had early concertgoers impressed, and a signal that the new generation is alive and well.
