Sunday night marked the fifth and final day of concerts at Lansdowne Park, as CityFolk completed the 2024 chapter of the festival. With Jason Isbell out due to illness, Maren Morris was bumped up into the headliner slot, allowing for a longer set for the rising star, which nobody was sad about. The Grammy-winning pop country star belted many of her hits from albums such as GIRL and Humble Quest, along with her massive collaboration with Zedd in 2018 for “The Middle.” Morris was backed with an extremely talented band, each getting chances to showcase their abilities throughout the set.
Earlier in the night was Alejandro Escovedo, whose sound could be described as an almost-eerie punk tone, set while driving down a desert road. Opening the main stage was Milton, Ont.’s Billianne, the singer-songwriter who took off on TikTok several years ago and is in the process of releasing new music.
The tent stage featured CityFolk Slam, a slam poetry showcase where eight different poets had the chance to deliver personal and hard-hitting poems to the crowd. Judges were chosen throughout the audience, and after each poet they would score them. The Slam was a fun, interactive activity on the final day of another successful festival.
