Kicking off the first weekend of Bluesfest were a multitude of different artists of varying genres. On the main stage, Nickelback burned it to the ground in a fiery performance featuring a mix of their biggest hits and several deep cuts. The band reminisced about playing everything from Zaphods to Barrymores over the years in Ottawa. On the river stage, Noah Cyrus brought her indie folk pop band with her as fans screamed the words to songs such as “July” and “Again.”

Australia’s beachy vibes were transported to the tent stage, as Ziggy Alberts returned to the fest with his guitar and neighbourhood of pedals. Country rising star Warren Zeiders melded rock and Nashville country to a tee, bringing together the different audiences for the night.

The party continues this weekend, with plenty of things to do on site and an array of food trucks providing many options. It should be another warm couple of days, as the summer festival weather is in full effect!

RBC Ottawa Bluesfest runs from July 4-14 at Lebreton Flats, with passes and tickets available here
