Fans who have waited 24/7, 365 (if you know, you know) to see Elijah Woods on tour can rejoice: the rising pop artist is coming to Ottawa’s Bronson Centre Music Theatre on Oct. 20.

Woods, who is originally from Perth, says the Ottawa show will be the biggest of the tour as he returns to his hometown. With 25 tracks in his Spotify discography, Woods says fans can expect him to play most of his songs, alongside a couple of covers and an opening act by Alex Porat.

Since his debut in 2021, Woods’s popularity has skyrocketed both on the national and international stage, with more than 4.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

The last time Woods performed in Ottawa was in the spring, before the release of his latest EP, bright orange everglow. The EP combines bittersweet lyrics and soft, repetitive chords that tell tales of love and loss found in the small everyday things like sunsets and stars. If you’re looking for more sweet love songs to add to your playlist, these hit the spot.

Woods expresses deep appreciation for his fans—internationally and nationally—and says the goal for his first headline tour is to give back to those fans.

“I just want to see these people who have been supporting me and try to give everyone access to it, no matter what sort of financial background they come from, and make sure that we can all sort of share this moment together,” Woods says.

While his songs tend to lean on reflective and heartbreaking themes, Woods manages to stay positive in his mindset, citing music’s ability to unite people through their emotions.

In an interview with Apt613, Woods recalled a moment with a 10-year-old fan whom he brought on stage as just one of the many fan interactions he is grateful for.

“The thing I always get back is that as soon as the song is done, I try to tell myself that it’s not mine anymore […] It’s now our song and we can share that and we can live in that present space together,” he says.

Wood’s excitement seems to match that of his fans—a good omen for his show on Friday.

“I’m so excited to play a hometown show and to be back where it all began for me. It’s such a special place to me.”

Elijah Woods is set to perform at the Bronson Centre Music Theatre at 211 Bronson Ave. on Oct. 20, with doors opening at 7pm. Tickets are available for all ages online for $22.50 plus fees. The Bronson Centre is fully accessible, with ramps and elevators for entry and exit, accessible seating available upon request, and quiet rooms provided as needed.
