The works by two artists on exhibit at Wall Space Gallery’s new location share similarities in the way they suggest a hidden and delicate intimacy, asking the viewer to inquire more; one artist does so travelling along local landscapes, the other through very personal everyday objects.
More than 45 recent works by 39 current instructors are on display at the Ottawa School of Art in the Downtown Instructor’s Exhibition. The exhibition includes paintings, photographs, and sculpture.

Hopewell, Ottawa’s eating disorders outreach program, is melding drag, performing, and visual arts at their outreach and awareness event Art of Hope, partaking at Orange Art Gallery on May 11. Hopewell has partnered with local artists to feature cool things people want to do while promoting their resources to address stigma and misinformation surrounding eating disorders. Art of Hope will be hosted by local drag queen JD Merciii and will showcase a plethora of art, including pieces from student artists attending Beatrice-Desloges Catholic Secondary School, an arts-focused high school in Orleans.
Wall Candy has launched a Call for Artists for its NOIR Art Festival 2023, scheduled to take place November 3–5 at the Horticulture Building at Lansdowne. The deadline to apply is June 15, 2023.
Julie Baribeau is no stranger to indirectly supporting causes that are important to her. Making, for her, functions as a way to build community and shift culture. Now, Baribeau supports her causes more directly with an art benefit show supporting the Ottawa Food Bank.
Uninvited: Canadian Women Artists in the Modern Moment, on display now at the National Gallery of Canada, is a collection of nearly 200 works of art, including paintings, photography, beadwork, and sculpture. It honours the cross-country creations of women during the interwar period over 100 years ago.
