This Saturday Ottawa Roller Derby’s team the Bytowne Blackhearts takes to the track against Cornwall’s Power Dames. This full contact roller derby bout jumps into action on July 26th at Brewer Arena. The doors open at 6:30 pm and admission to this fem-slamming event costs only $10 ($8 if you buy in advance).
The Bytown Blackhearts didn’t play the Power Dames during the 2013 season, so they are both in the dark about the other teams strengths and tactics. The Bytown Blackhearts also added a few new names to the roster this season, and have been training hard since the winter to ensure their skills are up to Ottawa Roller Derby’s standards.
The event is licensed, and Havana Cafe will be catering the event with food from their Cuban cuisine menu, including their mouth-watering mojitos. Come cheer on your hometown gals by wearing their team colors- Black and Purple! Merch tables will be stacked with swag from both teams if you forget yours, and fans of all ages are welcome. See you on the track!
