The Ottawa-Gatineau region is overflowing with literary talent. From captivating novelists, to wonderful authors of children’s books, to creative thinkers who write about politics and other contemporary issues.
This amazing talent will be on full display this Saturday, April 12, when the Canadian Authors Association, National Capital Region, First Annual Book Fest takes place in Clark Hall at the RA Centre (2451 Riverside Drive) from 10 am to 5 pm. Forty local writers will be participating and free parking is available. The entry ticket is $5 and can be used as a coupon for the purchase of any book.
Local author and Book Fest organizer Qais Ghanem, who last month released his latest novel Forbidden Love in the Land of Sheba, tells Apartment613 that he wanted to create a forum where local writers could not only sell their books, but also interact with the public through discussions of their work and short readings.
Judging by his impressive lineup it seems that he has met his objective. This celebration of wordsmiths from the National Capital Region is very intriguing, as writers of numerous genres – Canadian fiction, international fiction, politics, erotica, gender issues and children’s books – will be participating.
The event makes a fantastic weekend outing, as food will be available in the restaurant/bar inside the RA Centre, while a raffle of donated books will also take place.
So come out and support the amazing talent in the National Capital Region.
