When he isn’t busy excelling in his rigorous industrial design program at Carleton University, the creative and talented Manasseh Tagoe is inspiring other with his Tears Unknown philosophy that has carried him throughout the years, using art as a means of transmitting his mantra to others.
Manasseh is an international student from Ghana spending his second year abroad here in Ottawa. The young artist has always used painting and drawing as a creative outlet but has now come to find deeper meaning to it.
As he grew older, he began to experience obstacles and hardships seemingly standing in the way of his success, he tells me over a cup of coffee in the River building at Carleton. He explains that many people feel alone in their struggle, that their idols didn’t have it as hard as they do. It is from this concept that was born his philosophy Tears Unknown that is meant to show others that any measure of success a person achieves has been gained through unseen hardships and unknown tears.
He shared his wisdom of perseverance at the Alberta Student Leadership Conference, where he had the chance to inspire countless young people to change their outlook on life. However, he found that art was a more meaningful way to pass on his message. Manasseh started creating conceptual and abstract art in order to spread word of his philosophy and inspire others to never give up on their dreams and create an appreciation for art in any form.
Tagoe displays all his works of art on his tumblr page.
