This World Cup’s been one hell of a roller coaster ride from James Rodriguez’ magnificent goals, to the play of US goaltender Tim Howard, to the stunning, crushing defeat of Brazil in the semifinals to the hands of the Germans. It is fitting that Europe and Latin America meet in this year’s World Cup final. We can imagine that most bars will be presenting the big game but here’s a breakdown of the venues and places where you should find the best atmosphere and viewing experience.
Traditional places like The Georgetown Pub in Old Ottawa South, Sala San Marco and the Heart and Crown on Preston and in the Byward Market are all stalwarts of football viewing in the city and will all be showing the game. I hear some of the diehard German fans will be making their way to the Preston St. Heart & Crown.
Real Sports Bar & Grill on George St. has the largest indoor screen of all. The Senate is another bar packed with TVs that will be filled with atmosphere. If it’s a nice day, head over to the Earl of Sussex and watch the game on their outdoor patio.
The Hometown Sports & Grill at 1525 Bank St. has been celebrating every game so far with special country themed music, food and entertainment and will continue to do so for the final.
Note that the outdoor screening that was to take place at Rideau and Kind Edward has been cancelled due to the high probability of rain.
This isn’t an exhaustive list so let us know where you’re planning on heading to watch the game in our comments section!
