Apt613 needs your support!

In our 10+ years as an award-winning arts and culture blog, we have relied heavily upon a combination of grants and advertising revenues to keep the lights on. But then along came the pandemic and, like many other culture and community-driven projects, it hit us hard.
In 2020 alone, we lost 90% of our ad revenues due to the lockdown and closures of venues, galleries and festivals. We still haven’t recovered from the financial hit.
We’re looking to the future. We see this challenge as an opportunity to reinvent ourselves and move toward a more sustainable model. We can no longer rely on ads and grants alone to fund this project.
With that, Apt613 is launching our first-ever Patreon campaign!
You may or may not know, but Apt613 is a non-profit organization run by volunteers and a small hard-working editorial and management team.
The goal of our first-ever Patreon campaign is to provide more and better-paid opportunities for our current staff as well as for new positions at Apt613. We aim to hire reporters, writers, music, performing arts and food editors, and photographers, prioritizing diversity when hiring for these new positions. We want to reflect our community better and have the resources to pay our contributors properly.
With your help through this Patreon campaign, we will be able to develop a reliable base of income, so that when grants and advertising fluctuate, we can stay afloat. We will be able to create more jobs and provide opportunities for people from all corners of Ottawa’s arts and culture scene.
Support your local blog for as little as $2, $3, or $5 a month!
We thank you for all the love you have thrown our way over the years and would really appreciate your support as we transition into a more sustainable and equitable organization.
Please check out our Patreon page for a more in-depth overview of where we’ve come from and where we want to go.
Onwards and upwards, together! (And, as a token of our appreciation, here is a puppy).
