Letters From You to You is the newest book by Ellie Laliberté, an author and spiritual leader born in Ottawa and living in Hawkesbury. It’s exactly what you think: 21 letters written from the perspective of you, the reader, meant to help you understand and reconnect with yourself.

“You’re reading all of these letters as if your higher self is speaking directly to you,” says Laliberté. “[There are] many many great lessons in there of just looking at your patterns and understanding your emotional patterns and where do they come from… of doing that inner work of self-discovery.”

It’s a self-help book, but Laliberté warns it’s not a free ride. “There’s always some work to do—with each letter—on yourself. It’s really the purpose—to do some inner work while you’re reading all of these letters.”

“The benefit is freeing yourself,” she explains. “There’s a lot of freedom when you can realize that your existence is not just you living your life to the condition of the outside world. It’s really a wake-up call for people to start to investigate within themselves because their only real world is their inner world.”

Pointing to the calamities around us—from politics to war and even the weather, Laliberté provides a message of hope. “Once you can understand this world within you, you can have a better understanding of the world outside of you, and you can cope with the outside world a lot better.”

Laliberté wants readers to know that Letters From You to You is about not taking things so personally and getting away from the culture of victimhood that seems to plague our culture of late. “You get so much power back from getting back inside of you and doing that inner work that now you can observe the world from a different perspective.”

This book has been part of Laliberté’s journey of self-discovery but “this is bigger than myself,” she says. “I’m not speaking about my personal experiences. It’s about you. It’s about the reader.”

The official launch for Letters From You to You took place on August 28, and you can learn more about the book at LettersByEllie.com.
