This is going to be a great show. We’ve long understood that we can trust Arboretum. They take things seriously, and when they ask you to show up, it’s probably going to be worth it. We played some Jennifer Castle on Apartment613 Live (our weekly show on CHUO) last week and it was awesome. She’s a smart song-writer, with a perfectly warming tone for these chilly November nights.
As if that wasn’t enough, she’ll be joined by The Acorn. Rolf Klausener promises us some new music after a three-year hiatus for the the band and we couldn’t be more excited to hear what they’ve come up with. The Acorn is putting the finishing touches on a new album in the works called Vieux Loup that is due out this spring.
According to Rolf, “this will be the first official release since 2010’s No Ghost. I headed to an isolated cottage in Northern Quebec on Lac à Dick, at the beginning of this year to work on the EP & upcoming record.”
It all sounds very exciting.
We’ve got two pairs of tickets to give away to the show (thanks to the Arboretum team!). If you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the name of Jennifer Castle’s album, we’ll enter you in the draw. We’ll draw Thursday at noon, so get emailing!
Jennifer Castle will be at St. Alban’s Church (454 King Edward Ave) on Friday, November 14, 2014. Doors at 8pm, tickets are $10 and available in advance at Vetigo Records, Antique Skate Shop and Compact Music or online. For more info, check out their Facebook event page.
