By Karen Diepeveen on September 26, 2013

Once again, the weekend is full – how to choose what to do? We’ll make the decision easy for one reader – read on to find out how to win tickets to the Home & Design show this weekend.

90s pop music lovers should be at Zaphod’s Thursday night for Wannabe, while Marine Dreams will stop by Raw Sugar. Catch The Wicked Mercy out at the Black Sheep on Friday, while Saturday you’ll find the Soul Jazz Orchestra heating the place up. Pony Girl’s album release party is also on Saturday, or take a trip around the globe with classical, jazz and world music all in one spot. Increase your music selection – and happen across a few other treasures – at the punkottawa.com flea market, happening at the Bronson Centre Saturday all day. The O-town Hoe Down will be kicking up heels all across the city for six days.

In theatrical performances, Capital City Opera’s show takes place on Saturday, while Proud winds up at the GCTC.

Foodie opportunities abound this weekend – the first ever Ottawa Food Truck Rally takes place Saturday, with a trophy to be won by the most popular dishes of the day. Take to the kitchen yourself to make some lemongrass steamed chicken or learn how to can some of this season’s tasty tomatoes.

The One World Film Festival kicks off, with a great line up of movies, directors and producers to get you thinking. There’s also a film about the vanishing bees, along with a panel discussion, exploring this baffling and concerning mystery.

BLINK Gallery’s Collected Works exhibit is here for a short time, showcasing the works of the collective that will be featured in an upcoming exhibit in Toronto. Out in Merrickville and Arnprior, you can catch a glimpse of artists’ studios and see their latest works.

Get tips about your home this weekend, too, with the Green Homes Showcase and the Home and Design Show this weekend. We’re giving away a pair of tickets to the Home and Design show – just leave a comment below by noon Friday about what room in your house you’d like to re-design, and you’ll be entered in our random draw.

Or? Just grab a little culture as you dash about the city – Culture Days is happening all across the country.
