The one thing you need to know this weekend? Sunday is National Ice Cream Day.

Yes, there’s more to do than just gorge on ice cream. There’s also a film about coffee, and a brunch crawl in the Market. We’ve got beer, too, with the Hastings County Craft Beer Festival, and another edition of the craft beer sessions down at the Hintonburg Public House.

In non-food related events, tonight at House of Targ you can catch I Smell Blood, Street Meat, and Nemesisters, while Pinner, The Archaics and Nightshades play Pressed. Bella Cat Blues, Matt Dorgan Project and Dynamite Motel are out at the Black Sheep on Friday, Rayannah is at the Raw, and we’ve got visitors from Halifax and Montreal with Kestrels, Harsh Reality, and Mnemonics stopping by. If you’re looking to revisit some songs from your past, Everything is Now will be covering some old hits. Down at Mavericks, you’ll find Us With Wolves launching their new EP, with alt-rockers Arms of the Girl, Bearings and Pine stopping by to join the party. Amelia Curran is out in Wakefield Saturday night, while Sunday brings She Is Listening, a fundraiser for Ovarian Cancer Canada.

There are a few other fundraisers happening around town: Pride is hosting Once Upon a Pride, a night of magical burlesque and drag. Photos are up for purchase at Petit Bill’s with Snaps for CARE, and the Rescue Block Party will be one big party in support of Ottawa’s animal rescue organizations.

Get outside and enjoy the weather down at Petrie Island River Day, followed by a bit of Shakespeare down in Hintonburg. Centretown Movies is back in Dundonald Park, with PSAC sponsoring The Lego Movie on Friday, and Date Night showing Saturday.

The Great Canadian Tease Burlesque Brunch is on, with a throwback to the 80s, or you can head back to the 70s or dance to the 90s this weekend.

If you want to fit in a bit of shopping, Anne Dahl is holding a pop-up shop down at Raw Sugar Cafe, while Victoire celebrates its 8th birthday all weekend long.
