Happy long weekend, folks! Officially called Colonel By Day in Ottawa, there’s plenty going on to keep you in town.

Creative Jam, a three-part design experience celebrating creativity, takes place Thursday night at Lowertown Brewery. In addition to hearing from local creative leaders during the Creative Jam Talks, audience members will have the opportunity to vote on submissions in a design showdown.

Also on Friday, you can head to Maker House Co. for their Bike Love summer social. Featuring a cyclist discount (show your helmet to get the deal!), samples from Bicycle Craft Brewery, a fashion photo booth by XO VELO and demos by Right Bike. All that and live music—it’s going to be a fun night!

It’s the 25th annual Ottawa International Buskerfest and performers from all around the world will hit the streets to delight and entertain. With free admission and five blocks of Sparks Street dedicated to Buskerfest, this is a great way to spend some time outside this weekend. And while you’re on Sparks, it’s just a quick walk up the block to check out Northern Lights, the Parliament Hill sound and light show, which plays nightly at 10pm in July and 9:30pm in August.

Celebrate Ottawa’s history and Colonel By, the man who oversaw construction of the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bytown Days revellers can enjoy visits to the Bytown Musuem, voyageur canoe tours, live performances, costumed characters and more. Events take place all weekend, wrapping up on August 1st with the 21st annual Colonel By Day. Don’t miss the ceilidh music and dance celebration Saturday night.

Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival continues this weekend with concerts taking place around town every day until August 3. Michael Ward-Bergman and Friends perform at 10pm Saturday night at La Nouvelle Scène (see video above).
