With no fewer than five festival taking place this weekend (Fringe, Craft Beer, Franco-Ontarien, Explosion and Glowfair), there truly is something for everyone. Enjoy!

The 2018 Ottawa Fringe Festival kicks off this week and runs through to June 24. Read some top picks here and follow all our coverage online.

Ottawa Explosion Weekend is a multi-day, multi-venue music showcase. Shows started Wednesday and are scheduled til Sunday – find the full schedule online.

Missed Festibière or the Orleans Craft Beer Festival? Third times the charm with the Ottawa Beer Fest taking place June 15 and 16 at Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne. Easy cycling access and your admission ticket includes free bus rides, so travel there and home safely.

The Festival Franco-Ontarien takes over Major’s Hill Park Thursday to Saturday. With performances each night and a family friendly programming Saturday morning, it’s a party you won’t want to miss.

Glowfair returns to Bank Street with a silent disco, glow yoga, street performances and more. Ten city blocks, 3 nights, 2 stages.


Hooley’s Pub hosts the next edition of Soup Ottawa, where attendees receive a bowl of soup for $10 and get to vote on their favourite project with their spoon! Learn more about the projects online and come prepared with your cash at the door.

Gatineau region collective Standish Hall is having his vinyl album release concert Friday night at Triple Seven in Gatineau.


The Ottawa Tool Library is hosting another Repair Café, this time at the Canterbury Community Centre from 11am until 4pm. Learn more about what to expect at the café in their event FAQ or visit their website.

Girls+ Rock Ottawa, recent winners of United Way Ottawa’s GenNext Award, are offering drop in jam sessions. These pay what you can/by donation drop in session are for some self-directed rehearsal time. Learn more about Girls+ Rock Ottawa on their site, and don’t hesitate to stop by!

If you’re looking to burn off some of those beer calories (and then re-hydrate accordingly), check out the Craft Beer Run. This 5km neon run/walk includes a Beau’s beer, a medal, a festival glass, and a weekend pass to the Ottawa Beer Fest. Proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa.


Looking to take it easy Sunday? Dominion City Brewing Co. and the Heirloom Kitchen are co-hosting Sunday Pintxos all summer long, featuring Basque-style tapas and beers from 5-9pm.
