Weekend Roundup: Quoi faire ?

By Hannah Manning on April 12, 2018

The only thing spookier than Friday the 13th is snow in the forecast for mid-April, both of which are things we have to look forward to this weekend. Have no fear, though, because your guide to the weekend is full of hot coffee, cold beer and cool shows.

Equator Coffee has opened a new spot in at the National Arts Centre and to celebrate, they’re giving away free drip coffee all day!

While you’re at the NAC, grab tickets to Sal Capone: The Lamentable Tragedy Of. This play dives into the lives of a hip-hop crew coming to terms, personally and professionally, with the police-shooting death of their DJ. Tickets are available for $46, or $15 as part of the NAC’s Live Rush program.

In 1961, Yuri Gagarin made history by becoming the first person to fly into space and complete an orbit around the world. Celebrate this incredible feat at the Canada Aviation and Science Museum’s Yuri’s Night. This after-hours space party will also include Ottawa’s second edition of Science Slam.

Spring is in the air at the Vintage Pop-Up Shop. Browse through the Bronson Centre for vintage clothing, accessories, home decor, antiques, collectables, toyes, games, vinyl and more!

The Society of Beer Drinking Ladies‘ first ever event in Ottawa takes place Saturday from 2-8pm at the Allsaints Event Space (10 Blackburn Avenue, in Sandy Hill). With 10 local breweries, an artisan market and snacks by Craft Beer Market, you won’t want to miss it!

Bangers & Mash is a one-night-only musical festival, beginning at 9pm this Saturday with JFUN, ending with a performance by the 11-piece London Gentleman Records Band. Get all the details in our preview here.

Jazz/swing band Django Fet will be at Black Squirrel Books Sunday at 9pm. The show is free and is aimed to be energetic, getting you up off your chairs and dancing the night away.

Want to warm up after a chilly weekend? That’s Hot, a 2000’s dance party at the 27 Club will be playing all your favourites from the 2000’s.
