By Hannah Manning on September 15, 2022

Fall is in the air! And according to the forecast, so is some rain. But rain or shine, we’ve got some great events lined up this weekend.

All Weekend

CityFolk is back for their second weekend. Stay tuned to our festival page for up to date coverage, interviews, and concert photos.

The West End Studio Tour, running this weekend and next, is a walking, biking, or driving tour of art studios just west of downtown Ottawa. Click here for the Google Map and here for the Fall 2022 map and brochure.

A fan of Buffy Sainte-Marie? Don’t miss the final weekend of the free exhibition at the National Arts Centre, or a chance to see her at a live Q&A following a screening of Buffy Sainte-Marie: Carry On at the ByTowne Cinema on September 15 at 4pm.

Musicians from the Canadian Opera Company’s Ensemble Studio will perform in the garden of the German Ambassador’s Residence at the annual Opera Picnic. Pre-registration is required to save your spot. In lieu of admission, guests are invited to make a donation the Ukrainian organization Tabletochki, which provides cancer treatment for children in times of war.

Crafts, drafts, and a popup kitchen—what else do you need on a Saturday? Head to Dominion City for Freewheeling Craft’s market from 1-7pm.

The Merry Dairy will be at Octopus Books this Saturday, where author and Merry Dairy owner Marlene Haley will be on site signing copies of Great Scoops: Recipes from a Neighbourhood Ice Cream Shop. Fear not, the Merry Dairy ice cream truck will also be there!

From 11am-5pm, the ByWard Market will be transformed into the ByWard Barket with plenty of dog-friendly activities featuring a photo booth, fashion show contest, live canine art, scavenger hunt, pup-ups, and more! Yellow balloons will indicate participating shops and patios.
