Weekend Roundup: Quoi faire?

By Amanda Armstrong on September 7, 2017

Welcome to the weekend, folks! The seasons may not have officially changed, but the weather has taken the lead with cooler winds and shorter days. Celebrate the arrival of this blissful time of year with all sorts of great goings on in the capital this weekend.

Website launch: If you are the creative type, head down to Bar Robo tonight for the Music.Art.Ppl Website Launch. They have all kinds of great things in the works and are looking to share their ideas with you. There will be live art and music at the event, as well as a showing of work by various artists.

Music: Keep it low-key this Friday night and rest up after a short week’s hard work with any one of the great shows happening in the city. There are plenty to choose from, including Camille Delean/ The Visit/ Keturah Johnson at Pressed, Graven and Friends (The Sonic Defense and Rachel Stiles) at Bar Robo, and Barishi, Muffler Crunch, Thunderdome and Projekt Gothenburg at House of Targ.

Yoga: After a resounding success, Yoga Jam is back at it again for a night of lights, dancing, and—of course—yoga at Makerspace North this Saturday. Whether you’re new to yoga, or an experienced yogi, grab your glow and hit the mats (and the dance floor)—this event is open to those at all levels.

Music: Stretch out those Loose Joints after a few hours of yoga with DJ SweetCheeks at Hintonburg Public House this Saturday eve. Enjoy cheap Beau’s and bar rail and chill out to some great tunes, brought to you by one of our favourite Kitchen Party DJs.

PorchFest: Head to Hintonburg for PorchFest, a community based arts festival that takes place on porches throughout the community. Check out the map here.

Scavenger hunt: Have you ever wanted to be a part of something huge? Today is your last chance to add your name to the waitlist for the World’s Largest Scavenger Hunt. Join 3500+ people as they scour the downtown core for all things Canada, on a quest that is sure to be one for the record books (the Guinness Book of Records, that is).

Ottawa Welcomes the World: Want to experience all that the world has to offer, but aren’t able to travel this season? Lucky for you, Bulgaria Welcomes the World this Sunday in the Horticulture Building at Lansdowne Park. Come learn about this exciting culture, through dance, dress, language, and some mighty delicious food.

New club: For those of us still mourning the loss of our beloved Zaphod’s, be a part of the birth of newest club in town, in the old home of our favourite haunt, and join the Pop-Up Opening Party at the 27 Club this Sunday. DJ Magnificent will be on the decks, bringing us an eclectic mix of all good things. This is your chance to get a sneak peak of what’s to come after the 27 Club officially opens later this fall.

That’s all she wrote. Get out there and enjoy yourselves this weekend, Ottawans! It may have been a short work week, but you deserve it nonetheless. Take lots of photos and hashtag them with #apt613wknd, to be featured on our feed.
