Weekend Roundup: Quoi faire?

By Hannah Manning on October 14, 2021

Note: 613flea has been postponed from this weekend to next.

Whether you’re checking out some local fall foliage, listening to live music, or watching the game (pick your sports, there are plenty of options this weekend) we’ve got your weekend plans covered.

All Weekend

Feist is at the National Arts Centre throughout the weekend, with an unconventional production with limited capacity. According to the NAC’s event page, the material was conceived during and in response to a pandemic period when stages had to remain empty and communal joy was interrupted. MULTITUDES offers a reclaiming of the stage to be performed surrounded by the audience. Enjoy an intimate performance of new material in an in-the-round performance experienced in custom 18-point D&B Soundscape immersive audio. Learn more about the show in our preview post and get your tickets online.

Fresh Meat is back! For almost a decade, this festival has served as the place of opportunity for local artists and theatre-makers—both new and experienced alike—to show off their talent and try out new ideas. There are 12 different shows running through the weekends of Oct. 14-16 and Oct. 21-23, with the choice to book advanced tickets for one of 10 in-person performances at the Arts Court Studio or one of two livestreamed events. Learn more here.

Looking to get spooked this weekend? You can head to Saunders Farm (be sure to book your ticket early as they sell out!) or to the Glebe for The Sawmill at Lansdowne, a new haunted attraction produced by Saunders Farm that takes you on a tour of the wreckage from the demolition of TD Place’s Southside stands.

It’s so good to have live music back again! Head to the NAC’s Fourth Stage for Fridays at the Fourth featuring Orchidae, the experimental-pop project of Yolande Laroche, a Franco-Taiwanese Canadian artist based in Gatineau. A livestream is also available. Also this Friday, enjoy Harea Band with special guest Maya Killtron at LIVE! on Elgin. Doors open at 7pm for an 8pm show.

The first of two chances to cheer on the Ottawa 67’s is this Friday when they take on the Oshawa Generals.

More sports! The REDBLACKS are playing Montreal Saturday at 4pm, or you can watch Atlético Ottawa take on the Forge FC in Hamilton.

While you’re at Lansdowne be sure to stop by and check out 613flea featuring an ever changing (and newly expanded) mix of over 110 boutique vendors! The last outdoor event before they move indoors this November, check them out on Instagram @613flea for the latest list of vendors. Note: 613flea has been postponed from this weekend to next.

Missed Friday’s game? Or back or a second time this week? The 67’s take on on the Sudbury Wolves Sunday afternoon. The game starts at 2pm and tickets are available online.
