Weekend Roundup: Quoi faire?

By Hannah Manning on June 22, 2017

Well Ottawa, summer is finally here and fun events are non-stop!

All weekend

The Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival takes place this weekend at Mooney’s Bay, and there’s lots to enjoy! From family friendly activities to concerts Thursday, Friday and Saturday, this is an event you won’t want to miss!

Another great summer staple kicks off this weekend: the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival launches Thursday and runs through to July 2.

Craftfest continues this weekend and is your chance to shop from over 150 local artisans ranging from furniture and homewares, to fashion, food and drink.

The Museum of Nature has opened a new gallery, the Canada Goose Arctic Gallery, and what better day than free admission Thursday to check it out?

As part of the 14th Israeli Film Festival, you can take in Ismach Hatani (The Women’s Balcony) at Carleton’s Richcraft Hall. This is your last day to enjoy the Film Festival so if you’ve been meaning to catch a show, grab a ticket now!

Ottawa Welcomes the World: Slovenia takes place Friday from 10am-8pm. Join the celebration of Slovenian history, economy and culture.

Girls+ Rock Ottawa (formerly known as Ottawa Rock Camp for Girls) is hosting its first ever Rock Camp for Women+! Orientation is Friday night at Bar Robo.

Capital Pop-Up Cinema is showing Monty Python and the Holy Grail on Albert Island (6 Booth Street) Friday at 8pm. While the event is free, they’ll be selling popcorn and renting inflatable couches!

Arts Court is having a garage sale! The resident organizations of Arts Court are cleaning out their offices, closets and storage facilities in anticipation of renovations and moves this summer. Proceeds will go towards moving costs and SAW Video 2.0’s programming and workshops.

Last weekend was all about about beer and running, this weekend it’s beer and yoga! CRAFT at Lansdowne is hosting Bend + Brunch. Bring your mat for a one hour yoga class and stay for brunch and a beer!

The fifth annual Welcome Ottawa Week is being celebrated from June 20-30. This Sunday, enjoy a friendly soccer match with Community Kicks.

As part of the Ottawa Welcomes the World series, the Korean Culture Centre and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea are hosting the Korean Culture Fair.

The Nepean Concert Band will be performing a free show at Andrew Haydon Park as part of the SoundWaves Ottawa summer programming.

Muskoka Brewery is throwing a Boathouse Party! They say Muskoka and Ottawa have a lot in common: we’re both relaxed, friendly, fun-loving folk. Enjoy some good times (and good beer) Sunday from 2-8pm. Tickets are available online and include 2 drink tokens and Muskoka Brewery glassware.

Whalesbone is hosting the 10th annual ByTowne OysterFestival. You can snag your ticket at Whalesbone on Bank Street or Elgin, but you better move quickly because they’re going fast!
