Today’s Video of the Week is aptly named “Wednesday” and it’s a new single from the Ottawa-based group Moonfruits. Partners Alex Millaire and Kaitlin Milroy are makers of Franco-Canadian art-folk with a beautiful sound that makes our hearts soar.

This new video, filmed live behind closed doors at The Shenkman Arts Centre, shows the artists performing in front of an empty 500-seat theatre. Moonfruits said that while rehearsing and recording live streams from home, they set up and “play to” their stuffed animals for an audience… They brought dozens of stuffies to Shenkman and put them around the stage and in the seats. Keep an eye out and you’ll spot one or two in the corner of most shots.

Their new single was one of 16 songs released as part of #EncoreOttawa, a series of live performances from Ottawa musicians. Following the YouTube premiere that happened last week, Moonfruits’ half-hour set and more concerts by local artists will air on Rogers TV (cable and free streaming) in weekly double-headers through spring 2021. Visit shenkmanarts.ca for the show listings and schedule.
