Next month, Ottawa’s Pony Girl will be releasing Show Me Your Fears, an album that, if the video above is any indication, promises to be a harmonious and intricate offering of art-rock music. The video is a take-away show of the title track from the upcoming album, and it highlights the band’s talent for spinning beautiful soundscapes. It’s just one element of the album’s accompanying project, one that seeks to play up the art in art-rock: the band has recorded take-away shows like the one above for every song on the album. The video was recorded at La Petit Mort Gallery, a wonderful backdrop to the creativity of the sound.
Pony Girl formed in 2012. Its members, veterans of Bluesfest and Jazzfest stages, have studied music in universities, and some even teach it. Show Me Your Fears will be their debut album, featuring cover artwork by Antoine Ryan. The album is slated for release on September 28th and the release party will take place at La Petite Mort Gallery at 7pm that day. Tickets will cost $10 and include a physical copy of the album.
