Video of the Week: OAG demontrates how to make a plasticine drawing

By Apartment613 on January 20, 2021

Winterlude is mostly cancelled this year due to the ongoing pandemic, but some online activities will be available, including this one from the Ottawa Art Gallery (an annual Winterlude partner) that shows the viewer how to create a drawing entirely from plasticine. Yep, the squishy plastic modelling clay every toddler knows and loves can be employed to make art that looks similar to an oil painting done with a palette knife. And you don’t need to go out and buy fancy art supplies: A block of plasticine, some takeout chopsticks, a toothpick, a fork, and a pointy unburned birthday candle are all you need to get started.

Check out the step-by-step video demonstration in the player below:

The art demonstration is also available in French. More virtual Winterlude programming will be announced soon; check their website for more details as they become available.
