The Writes of Spring: Tim Baker, Amelia Curran, Donovan Woods & Hawksley Workman join up for a songwriters’ circle on Friday night

By Greggory Clark on April 25, 2017

Fans of Canadian singer-songwriters Amelia Curran, Donovan Woods, Tim Baker, and Hawksley Workman are in for a treat when the four artists meet for a night of music and conversation at the National Arts Centre this Friday night, April 28.

Something rather uncommon, NAC Presents will produce an 8-show tour across Ontario for The Writes of Spring, from April 25 to May 3. The tour includes stops in London, Picton and Peterborough before Ottawa, and ends at the Hamilton Public Library on May 3.

“I’ve had some of my best performances in songwriters’ circles, alongside artists who I respect and intimidate me,” said Hawksley Workman in an email. “It elevates your game to be up close to other songwriters you admire. These are some of my favourite songwriters in Canada.”

Hawksley Workman will perform alongside Tim Baker, the writer and frontman of acclaimed Newfoundland group, Hey Rosetta!, Amelia Curran (also from St. John’s, Newfoundland), as well as Polaris Prize nominee Donovan Woods from the small city of Sarnia, Ontario. All four are JUNO Award nominees and/or winners.

The Writes of Spring tour comes to the NAC Theatre (1 Elgin St) on April 28 at 7:30pm. Tickets start at $35 and are available online, by phone, or at the NAC Box Office.
