On account of this Takeout Talk recommendation from earlier this year, I’ve ordered dinner at Bibi’s Middle Eastern Kitchen twice now—and I’ll certainly go back for thirds. Ordering for two, my personal recommendations are the Falafel Bowl, the Beef + Tahini Bowl with extra pickled turnips, one Spicy Cauliflower Saj, and Za’atar French Fries with garlic sauce on the side. For two hungry people, this entire meal cost $40+hst and the leftovers made for two, almost three meals. Instead of delivery apps, place an order directly on Bibi’s website for the lowest price. I noticed a one or two dollar markup on most menu items via Doordash. If you live downtown, the bike ride or short drive out to Bibi’s is a nice ride which takes you to the intersection of Vanier and New Edinburgh. You’re not far from Riverain Park and the Rideau or Outaouais Rivers if you’d like to make it a picnic.

I’m also taking an old Takeout Talk recommendation this week: Authentic Vietnamese Pho House is a local fave of mine and their vermicelli noodle bowls (bún) sounded like just the right thing for a Friday evening in June. I like their grilled chicken in a lemongrass, fish sauce and garlic marinade on top of my giant bowl of thin rice noodles and crisp raw veggies, all drizzled in their addictive sweet-and-sour vinaigrette (but the pork and the spring rolls are also excellent). It’s fresh, it’s crunchy, it’s savoury—what’s not to love?
