#Support613 Gift Guide: For local sports fans

By Josh Lemoine, Kiersten Vuorimaki, and Greggory Clark on December 8, 2021

Our local holiday gift guide covers all the bases for Ottawa sports fans on your list!

With our gift guide series in full swing and Apt613 writers going to bat for local businesses this season, these presents are sure to be a home run for supporters of local clubs and Ottawa’s star players!

Atlético Ottawa

Atlético Ottawa just had a launch of new merch which is pretty slick! The capital city soccer club is also running a “Holiday Hat Trick” promo for three tickets and a scarf, delivered in time for Christmas if you order before December 10. If you’re reading this too late, head down to the team shop at TD Place in Lansdowne Park.

Apt613 Pick: Atlético Ottawa’s 2020 jerseys are on super sale for $29 (youth) and $39 (adults). You’ll be gifting the local footie fan in your life with a piece of history—these were the kits Atlético Ottawa players wore in their inaugural season.

Canada Soccer

Ottawa’s Jonathan David is tearing up Europe and the World stage, scoring at prolific rates for his club team Lille OSC—the reigning champions of France’s Ligue 1—and at 21 years old, he’s only a couple goals away from becoming the top scorer for Canada’s national team. In the Canada Soccer store, you can order a jersey with our hometown hero’s name and number 20 on the back.

There’s an embarrassing lack of women’s team jerseys in the Canada Soccer store—which means the only way to get Olympic gold medallist Vanessa Gilles’s name on an official jersey is to order a men’s size with a custom name. On their own initiative, the women’s national team members set up an independent store here, with proceeds going towards developing a domestic pro league.

Fun #OttawaFact, Olympic gold medallists Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence also played in Ottawa as members of the Fury W-League team!

Apt613 Pick: This shirt featuring the names of the gold medal-winning defenders, including Ottawa’s Vanessa Gilles ($39.95)

Dominion City

Yup, the brewing company. They make great beers and Dominion City’s merch game is on point too. Among the retro-looking shirts and hats, DCBC came out with hockey sweaters this year, and they stock pretty cool cycling jerseys too.

Apt613 Pick: Our favourite is the Vintage Hockey Sweater ($170.00). The Fightin’ Geese are a totally fictional club whose name and logo appear on limited edition DCBC merch now and then.

Nakkertok Ski Club

There’s a ski club in nearby Cantley called Nakkertok, and you can get a branded hat for the x-country ski enthusiast in your life! You can also get them a day pass or membership to ski and snowshoe the Nakkertok trails.

Apt613 Pick: Nakkertok branded hat ($28.00)

Ottawa Blackjacks

Along with Atlético Ottawa, The Blackjacks basketball team is another relatively young start-up at the front of Ottawa’s pro sports renaissance, playing their first competitive games in the CEBL in summer 2020.

Apt613 Pick: The Ottawa Blackjacks alt logo toque ($35.99)

Ottawa Outlaws

Ottawa has a competitive Ultimate team, The Outlaws, so you can buy a frisbee for the Ultimate fan in the household!

Apt613 Pick: Vintage Outlaws Disc ($15.00)

Ottawa Redblacks

Besides customized jerseys, the Redblacks shop has a lot of vintage-looking clothes like a bomber jacket, this pullover windbreaker, and a plaid button-up shirt.

Apt613 Pick: Plaid yoga pants! ($74.99)

Ottawa Senators

The Sens have had a full roll-out of gear with the throwback 2D logo, taking these looks back to 1992! Supporters of the local hockey club don’t have a lot to cheer about these days, so if you bring up the Sens at your family dinner table, it should only be to discuss their retro 2D logo.

Apt613 Pick: Pullover hoodie ($69.99)

Ottawa 67s

Scroll down this page and you’ll find the 67s’ chunky vintage-style toques, scarves and mittens, most of which are priced at $30.

Apt613 Pick: For a bona fide fan on your shopping list, go all the way with the classic Barberpole Jersey at $139.99 (if they don’t already have one).

Ottawa Titans

The Titans have merch this year, and are also selling ticket packages for the 2022 season. The league’s 2022 schedule was just released, and has the Titans playing their first home stand at RCGT Park from May 24–29 if you want to throw in tickets with your gift!

Apt613 Pick: Fitted ball cap ($31.99)
