Ottawa’s Digital Arts Resource Centre is screening new works by its members online this Thursday, February 11. Watch here when the short film program is broadcast live and stick around for the post-screening Q&A between artists and the audience.
DARC’s annual showcase always covers a wide range of artistic practices like sci-fi, animation, experimental cine-poems, music videos, and short documentaries. This year’s program is no different featuring a juried selection of nine videos produced by DARC members in 2020. RESOLUTION 2021 will feature works by Pixie Cram, Nathan Hauch, Edgar Rene Hernandez, Jehu Jacob Mahautiere, Laura Margita, Neeko Paluzzi, Laura Paolini, Christopher Rohde & Kenneth Warner, and Nena Toth.
“This program will take you through all styles, from an immersion in colour to stark black and white, with remarkable soundtracks and soundscapes—be sure to wear good headphones“ says DARC Director Annette Hegel of this program. “What I find unites the works is the same thing that unites our members at DARC, which is a commitment to improving and pushing their craft as filmmakers and artists, and an understanding of the important role that alternative media plays in sharing underrepresented stories and challenging ideas, especially in light of everything that the year 2020 threw at us—individually and collectively.”
RESOLUTION 2021 is happening online this Thursday, February 11 from 7pm–9pm. Visit digitalartsresourcecentre.com to watch the live broadcast. Tickets are free/pay what you can with donations going to support the DARC’s non-profit programs.
