Holly Cole, Dominique Fils-Aimé, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson and more will play the Ottawa Winter Jazz Fest in 2022.

Winter Jazz Fest is back in-person, and growing to cover two weekends from January 28–29 and February 3–5.

Organizers of the 2022 Ottawa Winter Jazz Festival have announced a slate of at least 11 concerts, with more to come. Two weekends worth of shows will take place at the Arts Court Theatre, Club SAW, ODD Box, and Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre.

The biggest name is Holly Cole (Jan. 29), who performs at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre on opening weekend. The triple Juno Award-winning, multi-platinum recording artist last played the Ottawa Jazz Festival in 2014.

Montreal’s Dominique Fils-Aimé (Feb. 3) presents Three Little Words, the final chapter in her album trilogy that delves into the legacy of African American music. Since 2018, Dominique has been shortlisted twice for the Polaris Music Prize and won the Juno Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2020.

Speaking of Polaris Music Prize nominees, author and songwriter Leanne Betasamosake Simpson (Feb. 4) will play a late show at Club SAW. That’s one we’re quite looking forward to. Her latest record, Theory of Ice was short-listed for the Polaris Music Prize, and recent work earned her the Prism Prize Willie Dunn Award for excellence in the Canadian music, music video, and film community.

Ottawa jazz pianist Peter Hum (Feb.4) has been a mainstay on the local music scene for three decades. He and guitarist Roddy Ellias feat. Kellylee Evans (Feb. 5) add a local flavour to the Winter Jazz lineup.

As of today, Winter Jazz Fest organizers have yet to announce a concert for January 28—although the date is listed as the opening night in their calendar—so, stay tuned for further announcements!
