Podcast: Improv Embassy rings in the new year—01.05.19

By Asim B. on January 2, 2019

The Improv Embassy will be hosting Ring In the New! A Comedy Fundraiser on Saturday January 5. This show is intended to celebrate emerging talent within the Ottawa comedy scene and raise funds to support the future stars of tomorrow.

Ahead of the show I sat down with one of the organizers, Lindsay Snow, to get the scoop on what to expect at Ring in the New!

The event features sketch and improv groups performing alongside some standup comics. All proceeds from the show will go towards Improv Embassy’s Inclusion Scholarship, which helps students from underrepresented backgrounds take their improv, sketch, and standup classes.

The Improv Embassy understands that financial constraints are one of the barriers to attending classes. To help, they are offering scholarship opportunities to those who would benefit most from them, and prioritize candidates who identify as BIPOC, women, LGBTQ+, people with a disability, and people who are 50+.

Ring In The New! A Comedy Fundraiser is taking place on Saturday January 5 at 8pm at Happy Goat Coffee Co. Tickets are PWYC (suggested $15). For more Apt613 podcasts, see our Soundcloud page.
