“only you” by summersets // The Ottawa via Sault Ste. Marie folk duo of Kalle Mattson and Andrew Sowka are releasing new music prolifically, with this their sixth feature in the #ottmusic weekly playlist since we took to Spotify around this time last year. Recorded with the project’s trusted producer, Jim Bryson, “only you” is a song, like many of summersets’ songs, which brings a feeling of nostalgia to the listener. Piano compliments the soft strums of the acoustic guitar and the lyrics make one feel like they’re seeing through the lens of the storyteller. [Bandcamp]

“Mesures” by Simon Provencher // After featuring a single by Simon Provencher in a recent #ottmusic weekly update, we’re delighted to share the full 6-track album he released last weekend. The experimental recording also features Hull’s Olivier Fairfield on drums and clarinetist Elyze Venne-Deshaies improvising alongside Provencher on the electric guitar, synth, and effects. “Perspective” by DJ UNPIER // Franco-Ontarien DJ UNPIER uploaded a new track to Spotify last weekend called “Perspective”. It’s a high-tempo dance track (or highway drive track?) full of sweeping filters and simple but groovy synth parts. While UNPIER is well-known for his collaborations with artists such as Jacobus and Le Group Swing, “Perspective” is one of the DJ’s instrumentals. [Soundcloud]
