“Fossils” by Sleepy and the Noise // Ottawa rock band Sleepy and the Noise is releasing their debut full-length album, Fossils. Recorded in town at Little Bullhorn Studio, the album is songwriter Christian Pasiak’s second with drummer Kira Montfort (Kimberly Sunstrum, Alana Sterling) and a first-ever cut for bassist Brian Dick. The eponymous single “Fossils” is track 10 of 10, but it’s where we’ll begin this listening journey! [Bandcamp]
“Anchors” by Silkken // After six years, Ottawa collective Silkken follows up on their debut Not Forever Enough with the full-length record Anchors, an album featuring contributions by 13 Canadian musicians including Joseph Shabason (Destroyer), Pat Johnson (Steve Adamyk Band), Rolf-Carlos Klausener (The Acorn), Gianna Lauren, Sylvie Smith, Julien Dussault (Pony Girl), Gold Bonds, and DJ Matt Tamblyn. Drummer Pat Johnson and vocalist Rolf-Carlos Klausener formed the project in the fervour of Ottawa’s underground arts explosion of 2011. Over a few short years, the band became synonymous around town for wild live shows, hosting warehouse parties, and rallying the community for their music videos. They’ve shared the stage with Austra and Bonobo among others. The UK’s Line of Best Fit calls this new track “…a hazy slice of tropical dream-pop.” [Bandcamp]

Marie, but reconnected in Ottawa, where summersets is produced with Jim Bryson at Fixed Hinge recording studio. [Bandcamp]
